  • Integrating Holistic Treatment
  • How to Best Help Your Pet

Listen in to the whole episode:

Dr. Marlene Siegel’s Journey

Dr. Siegel had a life-changing experience when one of her show horses, who had previously saved her own daughter’s life, developed debilitating neck spasms. Her veterinarian did not know what was causing the issue. As a result, she recommended that Lily, Dr. Siegel’s horse, be put out to pasture or put down. Dr. Siegel knew she couldn’t give up on Lily, the horse that saved her daughter’s life.

This is when she first began her integrative practice, bringing in a certified animal chiropractor in an effort to help her horse, Lily, with her immense pain. Within 5-6 months, Lily and Dr. Siegel’s youngest daughter went on to win the United States Reserve Youth National Championship, one of the most prestigious horse shows in the US for young riders.

“So I tell people all the time, never let somebody else tell you what you can and can’t do. Never let somebody define your capacity, your capabilities, because there is always that ability to heal.” – Dr. Marlene Siegel

Why Holistic Healing?

When you take your pet to a conventional Veterinary practice, you will most likely come away with a prescription medication for your pet. Dr. Siegel refers to this as “A pill for an ill” medical practice. These pills often seem to work well for our pets, so what is the concern?

The concern is that these pills often address the symptoms, but rarely do they address the cause of the ailment. Additionally, this leads to more and more problems for your pet. In healing pets holistically, Dr. Siegel seeks to address the root cause of the disease or ailment, and return the body to balance.

How Do I Heal My Pet?

Inflammation has long been a well-known symptom of most infectious diseases, but research now suggests that chronic inflammation is not just a symptom, it actually causes and advances many common diseases.

Dr. Marlene Siegel has used her experience in her integrated holistic pet healing veterinary practice to create a free Ebook for pet parents, “5 Steps to Healing Pets Holistically”. It’s available to download for free on her website, here

Step 1 – Stop Polluting the Body

The level of toxicity that we’re experiencing today is unlike anything we’ve experienced before. There’s over 85,000 new synthetic toxins that have been introduced into our environment, and that’s just since World War Two. We’ve never seen this level of toxicity before.

These toxins make their way into our water, our food, our plants and our animals. To combat this, make sure your water is filtered for heavy metals and toxins.

Step 2 – Provide the Essential Nutrients

Make sure you’re feeding your pet a species appropriate diet. Different species have different dietary requirements, and we want to make sure we provide our pets with everything they need to live a long, healthy life.

We recommend a fresh, freeze-dried, or raw, species-appropriate diet to all of our pet parents.

Step 3 – Healing the Gut

70% of the immune system is housed in the gut. For this reason, good gut health is fundamental to overall wellness. Toxins, chemicals, pesticides and herbicides harm the membrane lining the gut. Glyphosate for example, is the most popular herbicide in the world, and it’s often found in dog food. This causes a leaky gut, allowing those toxins into the body, where they end up triggering an inflammatory response.

Therefore, to heal the gut, a fully balanced fresh, freeze-dried or raw, species-appropriate diet can be supplemented with a natural source of probiotics to support gut health.

Step 4 – Detoxify the Organs

This step involves removing all the toxins from your environment. Everything in your environment, from the air quality to the cleaning products under the sink, may be contributing to the toxins in your, and your pet’s, system.

A helpful resource for identifying what toxins may be hiding in your household products, is The Environmental Working Group

Step 5 – Specialty Tools

This step involves integrating natural therapies for your pet’s overall wellness. Whether that means reducing inflammation, bringing the immune system back in balance, or even addressing negative thoughts that are affecting our own health, as well as our pets.

This step can come in the form of various natural therapies, such as chiropractic therapy, ozone therapy, magnetic resonance, or Full Spectrum Hemp CBD and cannabis-based therapies
