CBD, or Cannabidiol, is the most prominent naturally-occurring cannabinoid component found in the hemp plant, constituting up to 40% of the plant. CBD DOG hemp oil, is extracted from the flowers, stalks, and leaves of the hemp plant, and is has a full spectrum of cannabinoids (natural compounds and terpenes) that are only found in the cannabis plant family. CBD from hemp plants are extremely high in CBD and extremely low in THC. For this reason, your pet gets all the benefits without having the psychoactive effects of THC.
WHAT IS HEMP CBD?
Our CBD hemp oil for pets is extracted and organically grown in the U.S. from hemp plant flowers, leaves, and stalks. Our hemp farms are located in Colorado and Minnesota, and we use the CO2 method of extraction: meaning that our product does not contain chemical solvents like alcohol or butane (lighter fluid).
Research on hemp CBD oil for pets is currently being performed at Colorado State University, and preliminary findings on its affects have been encouraging. Studies have been conducted to determine possible hemp CBD oil for cats, dogs, and other mammals medical uses.
While current FDA regulations prohibit us from making any claims about our CBD hemp oil for cats, dogs, and other pets’ benefits, we can tell you that our hemp oil is non-synthetic. This means it is a natural constituent of high-CBD hemp oil.
We encourage you to talk with your vet about CBD-rich hemp oil. You can learn more about the uses for hemp CBD oil from the many independent, peer-reviewed studies available at www.projectcbd.org.
Is hemp CBD oil legal? CBD is a different compound than THC. While they are both cannabinoids, CBD is not psychoactive, unlike THC. Our CBD-rich hemp oil comes from carefully cultivated high-CBD hemp plants which is why we are able to legally import and use this CBD rich hemp oil. Our hemp CBD contains only trace amounts of THC (the psychoactive compound that gives you a “high” feeling). For reference, most recreational cannabis plants have between 5% to over 20% THC.
CBD AND THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM
The Endocannabinoid system has existed in almost every living organism from humans to animals and even some insects for millions of years. This universal system’s overall function is to regulate homeostasis within the body.
CBD or cannabidiol is created through the endocannabinoid system, making it one of the most naturally occurring chemicals within the human body. If you were breastfed as a child, that was most likely the last time you consumed CBD. CBD provides communication between varying types of cells within our bodies. These communications regulate certain cells to act in defense of the body. For example, if you are injured, CBD helps instruct cells on how to handle the injury.
CANNABIS: THC vs CBD
The hemp plant, while having many health benefits, has high CBD hemp strains in nature and has been used since the beginning of the agricultural revolution. The hemp plant makes everything from fiber, food, fuel, energy, and an estimated 50,000 other products, making it one of the most versatile plants in the world.
THC levels in the hemp plant are so low that it is impossible to use any part of the plant as a drug. CBD is the predominant compound within the hemp plant, while the presence of THC is almost nonexistent. This allows for CBD to be extracted from the hemp plant, which is legal in all 50 states, so long as it is lab-tested to ensure purity. There is no “high” associated with using CBD hemp products.
