CBD as an Analgesic: Significantly Reducing Pain in Pets

Pain management is a huge issue when it comes to both dogs, cats, and humans. For our purposes here, we are going to focus on our beloved furry family members.

Generally, pain is managed through a variety of prescription medications. The majority of these medications are extremely effective, but unfortunately load unnecessary side effects onto our pets’ already devastating conditions.

Side effects of prescription pain medications include long-term liver damage, damage to the kidneys, chemical dependency, headaches, and nausea.

How CBD Can Help

Full Spectrum Hemp Extract (CBD) offers a safe, natural alternative to prescription pain medications. CBD has the potential to wipe out any pain medications your pet is currently taking and replace them with something equally as effective while improving your pet’s health rather than harming it.

CBD oil is great for reducing pain. Cannabis has been used as an effective analgesic dating back thousands of years. One of the ways it does this is actually by changing the way their central nervous system communicates the sensation of pain to our brains.

For pets who do need NSAIDs and/or opioids, research has found the dosage can often be significantly reduced by adding CBD to the pain management routine.

CBD also helps manage the ‘bad guys’ that come along with pain like nausea and restlessness.

Science to Back up the Statment

We’re happy to share the scientific studies clarifying that CBD has therapeutic benefits for people and pets suffering from pain.

A study published by Current Neuropharmacology found part of this is due to CBD’s ability to reduce inflammation. The study went on to discuss THC and CBD. Both CBD and THC have strong anti-inflammatory properties.

Cannabinoids reduce inflammation by turning on the ‘apoptosis button.’ Basically, the bad cells die and the good guys live resulting in less inflammation and the body’s defensive abilities getting stronger.

Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine recently conducted pharmacokinetics study on cannabinoids for dogs. This 8-month double-blind study was the first of its kind for Cornell and studied dogs suffering from osteoarthritis. Dogs in the study saw a significant decrease in pain and an increase in activity, with no side effects. In fact, the study concluded the following:

“Pharmacokinetics revealed an elimination half-life of 4.2 h at both doses and no observable side effects. Clinically, canine brief pain inventory and Hudson activity scores showed a significant decrease in pain and increase in activity (p < 0.01) with CBD oil.

Reducing The Pain: Case Studies to Share

As per usual, we’re thrilled to share a number of case studies with you showing CBD truly does help. Let’s get started.

Odie: The 11-Year Old Miniature Schnauzer

Odie began experiencing joint pain and inflammation in 2016. Odie was having a hard time walking and suffered from debilitating noise anxiety.

The recommended regimen Odie began to treat these conditions involved the administration of 1 mL of EASE 550 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract each morning. He was also provided with 1 mL of CALM 550 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract prior to any type of noisy event like a thunderstorm or fireworks.

Immediately, Odie’s family noticed his anxiety disappear. Within one week, he was able to walk without difficulty. He was walking so well, in fact, he felt comfortable going up and down the stairs again. His inflammatory response significantly decreased resulting in better overall health.

Odie continues to take EASE orally each morning for joint pain, inflammation, and allergies.

Chloe the Kitty

Chloe, a 13-year-old calico cat, began experiencing severe joint pain in 2014. She was no longer able to jump more than a few inches and was experiencing difficulties with her balance when she walked. In addition to her joint pain, she suffered from severe anxiety when a younger cat was introduced to her household. She was no longer spending time with her family and began hiding for up to 24 hours at a time.

She was given .5 mL of EASE 550 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract for cats once per day in the morning.

After one week of beginning her CBD regimen, she was able to walk normally again. Within one month, she was able to jump again from the floor to a tall table.

In regard to her anxiety, she came out of hiding and no longer feared the younger cat in the home.

Chloe continues to take EASE every day for joint pain.

Maxwell: The Senior Chihuahua

Maxwell, a senior dog, was suffering from CHF (congestive heart failure) and severe joint pain due to old age.

He was administered 1 mL of HEAL 1100 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract once per day.

When we asked how Maxwell was doing, we discovered he is now able to walk and even run. His owners also noticed an improvement in his congestive heart failure and noted he’s acting like a healthy dog again.

Maxwell continues to take HEAL daily.

Jazzy: The Teenage Pug

Jazzy, a 13-year-old Pug was adopted with a severe obesity problem. He was dangerously obese weighing in at over 30 lbs over the weight he should have been. As a result, his hips and legs were constantly inflamed and he was experiencing a hard time walking.

To make matters worse, he suffered from arthritis and was on a load of medications to help his hips and joints which, in turn, wreaked havoc on his kidneys and liver.

Jazzy began a regular CBD regimen with 1 mL of EASE 550 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract once per day in the mornings recommended.

His new family implemented a new diet and exercise routine, along with the EASE regimen, resulting in a healthier weight.

Jazzy’s joint pain and arthritis also improved; so much so that he was able to stop taking all of the medications he was on prior to CBD.

He continues to take EASE once daily in the morning.

Uno’s Shaky Legs

Uno, a Miniature Rat Terrier (age 12), had always been an extremely energetic dog. With age, as expected in many breeds, his limbs began to weaken. They weren’t as strong as they once were and he was having such a hard time that his legs would shake excessively if he remained standing too long.

Uno was not able to walk very well and was experiencing a tremendous amount of joint pain.

A CBD regimen of 1 mL of EASE 550 mg Full Spectrum Hemp Extract once per day was recommended.

Within just a few days, Uno’s joint pain and level of difficulty walking was noticeable. He had drastically improved. He is now able to stand for long periods of time without his hind legs shaking. He is also able to run through the park like a puppy again- just like he had before age set in.

Uno continues to take EASE daily to maintain a healthy, happy lifestyle.
