Healing Miss Daisie
It is no secret that I love animals. In fact, healing animals is my life, and every dog who passes through my door becomes family.
Over the past four years, I’ve created an apothecary using the cannabis plant with other essential oils and herbs and I could not be prouder of the work we do. When my community of vets has done everything they can for a sick or geriatric dog, they refer the pet parents to me. I am honored to work with a few of the best homeopaths and holistic veterinarians, and through homeopathic remedies, I am able to heal or prolong an animal’s life – which is a gift every being deserves.
With combined wisdom of my holistic friends and the power of full spectrum CBD, I feel like I have superpowers. With these powers, I’ve seen cancer disappear. I’ve brought dogs back from the brink of death. I’ve seen dogs who hadn’t walked in years start running again. I’ve reversed dementia. And I have popped, oozed, and eliminated more mast cell tumors, papillomata, and fatty tumors than I care to count.
When I met a 14-year-old black lab named Daisie on Oct. 1, 2019, I was excited to start healing her. I immediately fell in love with her gentle soul the minute she stepped foot on my farm. Her black coat peppered with gray, she had youthful eyes that twinkled despite being in her twilight years.
Miss Daisie’s pet-parent had passed away and the family brought her to my boarding facility while they made final arrangements. When I called a week later to check in with Daisie’s previous owner’s son, he told me that he could not take her, nor could he find anyone who would. The situation was traumatic for Daisie, losing her home and her family in one fell swoop, and we knew she would need extra love and I immediately offered to make my farm rescue, Fire Flake Farm, her forever home.
After a week, we could tell Daisie was terrified and confused. Before coming to us, she was being fed the cheapest kibble on the market which made matters worse. She was suffering from poor health and had a large mast cell tumor the size of a golf ball on her back just above her tail.
She could barely use her back legs and was dragging them behind her – although she wanted to be part of my pack, she could barely keep up. Unable to hear, Daisie relies on her senses of smell and vision, but life without a key sense had made her weary. She rarely looked up or made eye contact but always wanted to be near me.
Working from the inside-out
To heal Miss Daisie, I started by giving her 12mg of a full spectrum hemp extract tincture in the morning and 50mg of a full spectrum hemp extract tincture in the evening.
I also applied a full spectrum hemp extract CBD salve for dogs, REMEDY, directly to the tumor on her back twice a day – once in the morning and once in the afternoon or evening.
By giving Daisie both the tinctures and salve, her issues were treated from the inside-out. The tinctures, when applied directly to the gums, is absorbed into the bloodstream and works to reduce overall inflammation in her body – treating both the joint pain and tumors. The salve, which is applied directly onto the tumor itself, is able to penetrate all three layers of Daisie’s skin and because there are both CB1 and CB2 receptors in every layer of a dog’s skin it is extremely effective. CB1 and CB2 receptors are part of the endocannabinoid system, which instructs cells on how to heal and repair themselves.
Additionally, I switched Miss Daisie to Answers Turkey Pet Food, goats milk, and whole sardines for snacks throughout the day. I assisted her cleanse with a pre and probiotic. All of these changes worked together to create both an internal and external change in Daisie’s health.
The science of CBD – is it safe?
CBD is a safe, effective treatment for all mammals both topically and orally. In a study conducted by Colorado State University, 10 mg/kg/day or 20mg/kg/day was orally administered to dogs for 6 days. CBD was tolerated in the entire study population. Unlike many traditional medications, research has proven that CBD is effectively and quickly absorbed into the bloodstream when administered both orally and topically. A study conducted by the Department of Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Israel concluded that: “CBD was observed to have a large volume of distribution [in dogs studied].”
Even more important: in a study conducted by the Department of Veterinary Medical Sciences, University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy, dogs were found to have a substantial amount of receptors in their endocannabinoid system, specifically in the spine and skin, which allows dogs to more effectively use CBD.
This all means that full spectrum hemp extract/CBD is both efficient, effective, and safe for dogs. Studies have shown that CBD can effectively stop and eliminate tumors and cancerous growths and inhibit future growths.
Miss Daisies’ results after 30 days
With regular application of REMEDY full spectrum hemp CBD salve as well as oral administration of the tinctures twice daily, Daisie’s tumor shrank significantly – decreasing in size by a third, within the first month. During that month, the large painful growth popped, oozed, and detached from Daisie’s spinal area. The tumor softened, but still feels that there is a small hard area inside, which appears to be scar tissue. Today, there is no sign of the tumor!
Because of the changes in diet and the addition of CBD into her regimen, Daisie has begun to move more quickly, and she doesn’t have any new growths forming. Even better: she is more relaxed and not in pain. She has started to swim and can even get up to a full trot. She looks up at me and makes eye contact now – a sight that warms my heart every time.
And, even though she is deaf, Daisie loves to jump up and bark with the rest of the pack when the UPS man knocks on the front door now.
